For me the painting symbolizes the ways of life, dreams, paths.
Time, the patient owl with sharp claws and snail shells; maybe empty lives who didn’t even start on their way.
Door hides unpredictable possibility, holes in the ground; the giraffe only looking up into the heights.
A domino that has no match and a road to the unknown where maybe people can find themselves…

Gertrude Abercrombie (February 17, 1909 – July 3, 1977) was an American painter based in Chicago.
Called «the queen of the bohemian artists», Abercrombie was involved in the Chicago jazz scene and was friends with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, and Sarah Vaughan, whose music inspired her own creative work.
