Carlos Revilla contributes to the world of art by providing innovative concepts and techniques that revolutionize classical concepts, initially he followed the surrealist trend, which offers a wide range of possibilities to later move on to neo-figurativeism, whose main theme is objects and everyday reality.
An artist goes through different changes, at 71 years of age Carlos Revilla focuses on the present, with his fine line embodying themes related to eroticism, women and predictions in his paintings. He also has a special attachment to the landscapes of the jungle and the Paracas deserts.
Carlos’s vocation for painting arose at an early age. Upon arriving in Europe he trained for five years at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
His European tendency is enriched by his ties with Peru, even when he was studying in the old continent, his first contact with Peruvian art was thanks to his painting teacher, who had a Pre-Columbian art collection.
Revilla was finding his way through different moments. In his early days, upon completing his studies in Amsterdam at the age of 20, he returned to Lima and began painting portraits.
Years later he returns to Europe, where he begins to discover his own artistic language, in which his sensitivity, originality and his way of seeing the world are manifested. For a short time he devoted himself to abstract painting and finally in the fall of his life he leaned towards magical realism, an artistic trend that presents magical elements or illogical situations.
His works of art are loaded with symbols that reflect his inner world. In addition, Revilla is characterized by the particularity of her painting in which female faces that express the personality and essence of women stand out, ladies fused with technological elements, landscapes and deserts.
